Presence (Old Manassas Courthouse)
Acrylic, 2004 11"x14" SOLD This painting represents the time I finally got a handle on acrylics. I'd always found them difficult to work with before, but this painting just flowed out of the brush. One thing that helped was to start with a tinted gesso. Another useful aid (which I learned from a recent oil painting class): mediums! Why oh why did my college painting instructors never tell me about mediums! For years I thought acrylic medium was only used as a final varnish.... Since this painting, acrylics have become my media of choice for working en plein air, unless I have to travel light, then I revert to good ol' watercolor. | ||
